Deborah has been practicing Baptiste power yoga for 9 years. She completed a 6 month intensive training with Philip and Lisa Urso and has been teaching for the last 2 years. She is constantly in pursuit of training with others who share her passion. Attending workshops with Cathy Cesario, Elizabeth Huntsman, Coeli Marsh, Ana Forest, Deborah Williamson’s Life Coach Certification, and completed her level one with Baron Baptiste.
She is an active volunteer at the York Correctional Facility for Women teaching yoga for Recovery Yoga, and facilitates A.A meetings once monthly there as well.
Deborah recently returned from Nairobi, Kenya where she participated as an Ambassador for Africa Yoga Project. Teaching young students all they have to do is look inside to see the power they possess. And to speak from their hearts. The transformations that these young people have experienced with this practice are immeasurable. Once you learn where they came from and what they have experienced in their lives you begin to comprehend the power of this practice.
Through her own struggles and successes with addiction the practice of yoga combined with the 12-steps she has found a compassion, and love for those in need of a second chance at the life God intended. Not the life that the ego created. Deborah spent several years in the substance abuse field as a Counselor, and Director of Admissions at an inpatient facility for addiction. She believes that with the right combination of traditional recovery methods and the physical practice of yoga a life with love, honesty, and truth is possible for everyone. This isn’t a recipe for “perfection” Life is a practice, sobriety is a practice and Baptiste yoga is a practice.
Deborah can usually be found teaching and practicing at Tamsy Markham’s High Street Yoga in downtown Westerly, Rhode Island, her home studio.
Deborah has always sought clarity and peace of mind through the physical, and believes if you can still the body the mind will follow.
You will begin to know a new freedom………
